Just for fun.. And because I always wondered!

The three white stripes

– Top: represents the North side of the city

– Center: represents the West side

– Bottom: represents the South side

The two blue stripes

– Top: represents Lake Michigan and the North Branch of the Chicago Rive

– Bottom: represents the South Branch of the Chicago River and the Great Canal

The four red stars and each point on each star

– First:Fort Dearborn and transportation, labor, commerce, finance, populousnes, salubrity

– Second: The Chicago Fire and religion, education, esthetics, justice, beneficence, civic pride

– Third: The World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 and France 1693, Great Britain 1763, Virginia 1778, Northwest Territory 1798, Indian Territory 1802, Illinois Statehood 1818

– Fourth: The Century of Progress Exposition of 1933 and World’s Third Largest City, City’s Latin Motto, I WIll Motto, Great Central Market, Wonder City, Convention City
